This 4-hour workshop provides 4 CEUs which includes pre-work and hands-on simulation training.
The simulation training will include ultrasound assessment, needling techniques with use of ultrasound, arterial, and venous peripheral device insertion. Attendees will rotate through hands-on stations to gain awareness and procedural confidence. Stations will include leading the needle, Rapid Peripheral Vein Assessment (RaPEVA) assessment, midline insertion, extended-dwell peripheral IV (EDPIV) insertion and arterial catheter insertion.
- The best practices for ultrasound guided insertion
- Review and practice aseptic technique including hand hygiene, gowning, gloving, establishing a sterile field, draping, proper dressing, and securement of both venous and arterial peripheral catheter
- Demonstrate the use of ultrasound for peripheral, venous, and arterial catheter insertion
- Perform ultrasound scanning to identify anatomical structures, verify vessel health, and identify appropriate insertion sites

Once you register, you will receive a confirmation email with link to access your pre-course training that needs to be completed BEFORE attending the course.
Arrive 15 mins prior to your set time for the day. Please note you may complete your pre-work at your own pace. You can sign up via PC., smart phone, or tablet (access app through app store Teleflex academy use your credentials to login). The pre-work is around one and a half hours and does not need to be completed all at once. Please be sure to register prior to the course.
Once you click on the link you will have to create an account on Teleflex Academy. If you already have one please use the same log in and password from before. Once you are logged in you will have to add the course to your dashboard and complete the pre-work that is assigned to you(Google Chrome works best).
