Overview: Catheter related complications can have wide-ranging consequences, including infection, malposition and thrombosis. This program will review risk reduction strategies to minimize these events through understanding and applying evidence based practices. Learning Objectives: · Discuss the relationship between malposition, thrombosis, and infection · Identify complications associated with insertion, dwell and removal of central venous access devices (CVADs) · Describe methods to reduce device related complications · Review opportunities to participate in healthcare reform practices
